2011

Going through a year’s images after 12 full months of shooting is always rewarding. It’s fun to remember the clients, the laughs and the moments. One detail that really stuck out: THE HEAT! On a day like today, when it is 19 degrees, it seems impossible to recall what 100+ feels like!

Thank you to our clients for choosing Unruh Photography this past year. You booking us is the biggest compliment we could receive. THANK YOU.

In no particular order, some definite favorites from 2011.

January 10 on 10

I always enjoy this project, but it seems I’m soon going to need to rename is “8 on 10.” I have a horrible time remembering to take a photo every hour! Regardless, it’s still fun to have a few photos to remember the 10th of every month.

The last two were taken with my phone.

Where have I been [for the last six months]?

Facebook and blogs are swarming with Christmas photos, New Year’s wishes and resolutions. I’ve had this post pending for a while now and decided it was time to push “publish.”

————————

I’ve been blogging for a few years now. This blog has been a great business tool. A place to showcase previews for our clients and their family and friends. This has been a fun outlet for me to share snippets of our life – vacations and daily happenings. I have thoroughly enjoyed blogging.

After I began blogging, I quickly realized a “successful blog” is one that posts frequently. Even daily. Succuess was achieved in my eyes as I posted often.

This year marked 100 sessions for us. That’s an Unruh Photography record! That is A LOT for a boutique photographer. That’s countless animal noises, location scouting, consultations, shooting, editing, proofing and ordering. It’s been a very good year and we are grateful.

Over the summer, I realized I only had so and so much time to give my clients and my family. Something had to give. It just so happened we chose the blog.

While I have truly missed the online community of blogging, I am so glad to have more time for my family and friends. It occured to me that my son may look back and remember his mom sitting at her computer. So I made a decision. Personally, I don’t want my son’s visual memory of me to be one of sitting at a computer desk all day. I want him to remember the playing, the fun, the laughs.

***I set the timer several weeks ago when we were playing.***

And so my friends, that is why I have been so absent. I still plan to post client previews here and the occassional personal tid-bit. But I mostly plan to spend any spare minute racing cars and building lego towers. Because that’s where my heart is. Thanks for understanding.

2011 Merry Christmas

Here’s a photo of the 2011 Unruh family Christmas card.

Next time you order photo cards from us, consider a die-cut card. They are both fun and unique!

December 10 on 10

I have realized some days are more difficult than others to do 10 on 10. I often forget or am just busy. But I want to keep doing this project for my yearly family book. So I’ve decided I’ll do some random images that still tell a story of a typical day at our house. Or simply things I want to remember about December 2011.
