Fall Scheduling

YIKES! September is almost full! October availability is also quite limited.

If you’re on our mailing list, you received information regarding our mini sessions and fall schedule.

We are excited to offer mini sessions again this year. Mini sessions will take place Saturday, October 9.

These sessions are perfect for those of you who want a short session, have already had a session this year or just want an image for your Christmas cards. They are quick, fun, easy and low stress.

If you’re interested in a regular, full session, please contact us soon as fall sessions book quickly.

And because you all come here to see photos, here’s one of me at six-months. With so many six-month sessions lately (We’ve had three and soon have two more) and William being six-months, I thought it appropriate. I’m just killing myself with that coat. Seriously.

Oh, feel free to cast your vote in the whole “who does Will look like debate.” Sorry I didn’t have a six month photo of Derrick to include.

Owen, 6 months

Owen’s mom and I have discovered we have NUMEROUS connections. The more we exchanged emails, the more we realized we were connected. So fun to get to know a client like that before a session. It just so happens that Owen was born the day after our William. This little family of three is just the cutest. I so enjoy photographing a family when I can identify with their stage in life 110%. Now that I’m a mom, I think differently as a photographer and editor. One of the things I think about is, “if this were my child, what do I want to remember forever about this stage?”

What I would want to remember and what I saw when editing:

Cute, crazy, untameable hair (they used the word untameable)
The way Owen burries his head when his mommy holds him
His attachment to his blankie
Complete dependence on his parents
Silliness one minute, frustration the next
Less and less baby, more and more boy

As you can see from the photos below, I had such a difficult time deciding on my favorites. Seriously, ever single one of these photos has significance to me. And he isn’t even my baby boy!

These families rank in the top group of the nicest people we have ever worked with. Everyone made us feel like we were part of the group. Now that’s a fun wedding day! Their entire day was filled with smiles, laughter and fun and we enjoyed being along for the ride. So happy for the two of you!

Derrick’s cousin’s daughter is a senior this year. (does that make her our first cousin once removed? I don’t know how that works). We snapped some photos of her while she was visiting from Iowa. Good luck with your senior year, Karissa!

Favorite Thing Friday – Baby 411

Sorry I’m a day late. Time got away from me.

Before we became parents we basically knew everything we needed to know about parenting. No matter what club you’re in, you get what I’m saying. We all have the answers. Before you know it, you’re not sleeping at night, it’s time to start solid foods, your baby has a rash, and you’re not sure if insect repellent is safe. And suddenly you know nothing at all.

We received Baby 411 as a gift and have referenced it numerous times. It contains our answers on all things baby. I realize I could google all of these questions, but it is so much easier to flip through a book.

These are the same authors of the Baby Bargain book. That book was a very helpful resource in planning for Will. It helped break down what you “need” for baby, what doesn’t work or what you can live without.

These two books are definitely my top picks right now. What about you? Are you familiar with either one of my favorites? What parenting books did/do you find especially helpful?
